Our Parish Journey
A United Parish
In 2023, the Anglican Parish of Westland was formed through the amalgamation of the Hokitika Parish and the Ross & South Westland Mission District. Spanning from Haast to Hokitika, our parish connects nine communities in worship and service.
Our History

Ross & South Westland
Previously a Mission District led by a Priest in Charge, this vast parish covered 275km, serving small communities, international visitors, and seasonal workers. Ministry ranged from quiet outreach in Haast to traditional worship in Hari Hari and home groups in Ross.

Hokitika Parish
Hokitika operated under the Local Shared Ministry (LSM) model for over 20 years, fostering strong leadership and shared responsibility. The team continues to meet weekly, ensuring the parish’s pastoral and practical needs are met.
Gospel Stories for Children
Upon retirement, our former Priest in Charge, Rev'd Vivien Harber, began recording weekly Gospel discussions for children. Explore her growing collection.
